Excursions

Vytina’s location is ideal for excursions to the areas and villages nearby. For example: 

Wine Roads. The region of Arcadia (and Nemea) is well-known for its wines. There is a significant number of small and medium sized wineries which you can visit, be taken around the vineyards, sample the local wines, and purchase your favorite bottles to take back home.  Some of the wineries you can visit in the region of Arcadia – Nemea are the following:

Dimitsana. Dimitsana played a very important role in the revolution of the Greeks against the Ottoman rule. It is located at 20 kms from Vytina. While in Dimitsana, you can also visit a very interesting open-air museum, the  Water Power Museum.

You will reach Stemnitsa after having crossed much of the Menalon mountain enjoying breath-taking views, in the direction of Elati.  Stemnitsa was a famed center for hand-made jewellery made of silver and gold. Its residents were also skilled in metallurgy as early as the post-byzantine years. 

Ancient Olympia. Known the world over, the stunning archaeological site of Ancient Olympia is only an hour’s drive from Vytina, guaranteed to take your breath away.  

In summer, head to το Nafplio and Kalamata (about an hour’s drive from Vytina) for a dip in crystal clear waters, to sunbathe on the sandy beaches, and visit interesting sites.   

In winter, it will take you just 20 minutes to reach the Menalon Ski Resort Mainalo Ski Center  while drive a little more (about one hour), and you can enjoy the slopes of the Kalavryta Ski Resort. Kalavrita Ski Center.

If hiking is more your cup of tea, Vytina is ideally located in the Peloponnese for such activities as well. The first Greek hiking path, certified by the European Ramblers’ Association, boasts 75 km of routes in the stunning local nature of Arcadia. Sky-tall black pines, firs, chestnut trees, plane trees and willow trees will make your hikes a memorable experience!
